Everyday services belong close to home. That is the truth, and it would be dishonest to write anything else just because this page recommends a salon in Pristina.

If each one demands a planned journey, you will either skip it or do it in a rush and get no pleasure from it. First: will they say no to you. This is the most underrated signal in the whole business. If you walk in with a photo of bright blonde hair, you have dark box-dyed hair, and the person says yes, we can do that today, leave. A hairdresser who knows her work tells you that the photo takes two or three sessions, that today only gets you one step of the way, and that insisting on all of it in one day will cost you the condition of your hair. That no protects you.

Second: do they explain the plan before they start. How many sessions. What the whole road costs, not just day one. What the colour will look like in two months when it starts to fade. How often it needs refreshing. If you get a clear answer to those, you have found someone who thinks before she works.

Third: hygiene, and you judge it with your eyes. Clean towels for each client. Combs and brushes washed between clients. A floor swept of the last client’s hair. Fourth: do they show their own work with pride. Ask for real client photos, not stock images and foreign models. Ask for results on hair like yours. Good colour on dark hair is not proved by a photograph of a Scandinavian blonde.

Then do the thing most people forget: confirm the day before you set off. A short message is enough. That is your insurance against a wasted trip.

For big jobs like balayage, count the duration too. A full lightening job does not finish in thirty minutes. If your window for getting home is narrow, say so in the first message, because a good hairdresser will tell you honestly if there is not enough time rather than start the work and leave it half done.

Combine hair and a facial in one visit

This is the most practical advice we have for anyone travelling in from outside the city. If you are making the road anyway, do not spend it on a single service.

A salon that does both hair and facial treatments lets you close two jobs in one visit. Colouring takes time, and during that time you are doing nothing else.
