The quick trim. A haircut with us is 15 €, but the price is not the point. The point is that a maintenance trim, the kind you get a few times a year just to keep the shape, does not call for a trip. If you have a local hairdresser who takes the ends off properly, keep her.

The general rule: the more often a service repeats, and the more easily a bad result grows out or washes out, the less it is worth travelling for. That is simple arithmetic and it is honest.

What is worth the trip

Now the other side, and here everything changes.

Colour, and above all any work with lightener. Balayage starts from 140 €, ombre from 120 €, highlights are 100 € and a full colour is 40 €. Those figures tell only part of the story. The rest of it is that with bleach, the person working does not only decide how good the result looks. She decides how healthy your hair is afterwards. A bad bleach is not just a colour you dislike. A proper course of facial treatments. Deep cleansing is 25 €, hydrafacial 60 €, radiofrequency 20 €. These treatments work when they are repeated on a schedule and done by the same person, someone who knows your skin and can see what changed since the last session. Continuity is worth more than proximity. If you have found someone who works well with your skin, a monthly drive is a small price for not having to switch.

The appointment before an event. A wedding, an engagement, a graduation, a photoshoot, the evening that has to come out right. There is no second attempt here. Message on WhatsApp before you set off, always. Salons in Pristina do not take online bookings and almost none of them have a website. Everything runs on messages and phone calls, and that is enough.

Put four things in the message: which service you want, how long your hair is, what has been on your hair before if this is colour work, and which day you are asking for. Those four lines save you a wasted journey, because the salon can tell you straight away how long it needs and whether the slot exists.

Ask how long the service takes. It is the question people forget most often and it is the one that matters most when you are coming from out of town. A balayage does not finish in half an hour. If you know the duration, you can plan your day instead of guessing at it.

Confirm the day before. A short message saying you are coming at the agreed time protects your slot and spares you surprises.

Bring cash. Salons in Pristina are paid in cash, in euro, and cards are almost never used. It is a small detail that becomes a big one when you have driven to get there.
